We’ve got the gear you need!

Let us help equip you for the great outdoors or indoors. We offer a variety of indoor sports equipment for sale or rent, as well as outdoor recreation equipment for rent. Available to students, faculty/staff and the community.

Unsure of how to use some of the equipment you'd like to rent? No problem! Our friendly staff will train you on how to use the equipment. We also provide local maps and guidebooks to help direct your adventure.

We accept credit cards only for both purchases and rental fees.

Equipment Rental

Indoor sports equipment, such as basketballs, volleyballs, racquetball/tennis racquets and table tennis can be checked out at no cost at the WRC welcome desk. Must present UNI ID.

Outdoor recreation equipment, such as camping gear, canoes, kayaks, paddle boards, snowshoes, cross country skis, climbing gear and more are available to rent through the Outdoor Recreation Office located at WRC 174, or call 319-273-7163.

Rental Policy

Pricing

The UNI rate includes current UNI students, faculty and staff. (Hawkeye Community College and Allen students who have a paid WRC membership would also receive the UNI rate.) All others, including alumni and emeritus, pay the Community rate.

Reservations

Reservations are not required, though recommended. Rental fee payment due at time of pickup. We do not offer single day rentals during the weekend. If you would like to rent equipment over the weekend, your rental is subject to the weekend rate.

Returns

Return all equipment by the due date to the UNI Outdoors Office, WRC 174. Equipment not returned on the due date will be subject to a late fee.

Lost or Damaged Items

All equipment should be properly maintained. Equipment that is returned dirty or damaged will be subject to a late fee. Lost equipment fee?

Cancellation Policy

You can cancel your reservation at any time with no penalty.
